nothing. one phone call from the head office, they left a message saying they've informed the respective store, but nothing since. given the latest headaches with purchasing a car i haven't had time to pass by that particular store to actually pass them a formal complaint

i'll probably post the reply once I get. Given I have yet to hear from them and it's been 3 days. However, if I do not hear from them I do plan to submit a formal letter of complaint to the manager of the respective store

I think it's great that you spoke up! Most people would usually quickly walk past them and ignore it..keep me posted on what they say when they reply (if they do)!

a security company might be the most effective option. most like you're right about what will take for them to change their perspective. i'm now waiting for a response from superstore, as i did submit a complaint using their form online. i might be tempted to write a formal letter and provide it to the manager of the respective branch.

the best way to handle such issues is by hiring a security company. that is exactly why there are security companies out there in the first place: to cover for liabilities. it's like paying for insurance. as a trained security person I can tell you this much, I'm powerless and do not get to touch a perp before he/she becomes violent, and if I do it'll be only in self defense. but then again, the mere presence more than often is enough to deter beggars, homeless people and others alike to even make an appearance.

it all boils down to how cheap the store owner is. (remember the Safeway on 6th and 6th in New West - they had a security person working evenings. and so did the Liquor Store on Columbia st.) perhaps they'll change their perspective once they get sued for the first time.
