8th of march

spring is just around the corner, and its signs can be noticed quite randomly in many places. with spring, comes the ’8th of march’, which is recognized widely as the ‘international women’s day‘. so with this occasion…i would like to wish you all ‘happy women’s day’ and offer a few pictures of a spring symbol, snowdrops:

this day is also recognized as mother’s day…i would also like to wish all the mothers out there ‘happy mother’s day’…and to my mother…’happy mother’s day and i hope that next year will be better than the last’. if i don’t get around to go outside and find a few snowdrops as the ones we usually had in our flower garden, then i hope this next one will suffice until i manage to bring you a few real ones.

i will also like to wish all the future mothers a warm ‘happy mother’s day’

and to my sister, as well as my cousins…happy 8th of march

and this next one i’d like offer it to a special someone…

valentine’s day

as many of you are probably aware of, the 14th of february is approaching…yes, valentine’s day is yet again almost knocking at the door. the day when we’re told that we should wake up in the morning and proclaim our love to that special someone. although it is quite admirable to carry your heart on your sleeve and be willing to share your feelings with that special someone; but being told that you have to do it on a specific day? yet, millions of ‘lovers’ will wake up on the 14th, purchase (if they haven’t already) some sort of a gift and use it to ‘show’ their ‘love’. without getting into a discussion of love and how would one show it…i have a bit more of an issue with doing it on one particular day because a consumerist society dictates it.

let’s put it this way on one extreme, if 364 days a year one doesn’t acknowledge their feelings towards that special someone…then how would it matter if on the 14th of february one purchases something to represent their ‘love’? would you call that ‘love’ or ‘affection’? then again, if one does acknowledge their feelings and does show his/her ‘love’ towards that special someone the other 364 days of the year…then the 365th one won’t be different…because that person would find a way to show that special someone how much they mean regardless of the date.

arguably due to busy schedules, stress, etc., most will fall somewhere in between the two options stated above…however, the date, or the endless ‘valentine’s day’ commercials, should not be the reason(s) as to why one should acknowledge their affection towards that special someone. being able to share the feelings, show that special someone that you are thinking about them regardless of the time, day, date, will have more significance…the only reason required to share one’s feelings…are one’s feelings…

one might argue that tomorrow is simply just ‘a celebration as a couple’…fair enough…however, shouldn’t each morning be a reason to celebrate because one gets the chance to see the smile of that special someone…one gets yet another chance to hold and touch that special someone? shouldn’t every day be special because one shares it with that special someone? so yes, one should celebrate ‘valentine’s day’, but one should celebrate it because they get to share it their loved one as they should enjoy and cherish each and every other day…not because it’s the 14th of february or because of the name the western society gave it…

ISOI part 4

it’s been a while since this happened, but i’d have to finish the airport round-about. well, tarom’s rule in europe is 1 bag per person of 25kg, plus the carry-on (not more than 11kg). well, i had two, one of roughly 24kg and the other of roughly 12kg. the nice german girl said she’s only charge me 10 euros per kg over 25. … that’s pretty much my reactions. anyhow, some complaining, whining and smiling got me the following deal. get the smaller bag under 11kg, and they can both go on, at no extra charge. at least one less worry. well by the time i turn around a ‘nice’ romanian fellow decides to make small chat. well, at least i have someone to talk to. get into the secure zone and i my attention gets caught by a commercial, 1L bottle of vodka (smirnoff) for 11 euros. well, that’s a deal in anyone’s book (with some exceptions).

got a bit of time to waste till the plane is supposed to take off, so i whip out my macbook, all happy i finally have free wireless…and to my suprise, the free wifi is nowhere to be found. if i would have known…i would have walked through the secured zone about an hour later. oh well, life goes on, i’m on my way ‘home’. well, it wouldn’t be a true romanian company if they did not delay. of course, the plane had to be delayed. why? well it’s not as if i was gonna get an honest answer from them.

eventually we’re on board, the plane takes off and suprise…tarom is good for something, they give some snacks and yes, beer :) . well, that helped a lot. i sort was willing to overlook the ‘late’ part as long as i was gonna catch my connection to sibiu. well, we arrive in bucharest, and same old airport. same lousy service and same lousy attitude.

given i never flew interior in romania, i was looking for some help. i go to the first information desk i see and ask. and i’m told, ‘go forward and to the right’. i go forward, and the only right i can take it’s through a window. so i look for ‘help’, yes…’help’ in otopeni (stop laughing it’s not that funny). i go to the first person i see with some sort of work clothing; however, as i approach he whips out his cell phone and starts talking… i’m left basicly with my mouth open. well, well…welcome ‘home’. i got to some security guy, who turned out to be quite nice, and he explained how to get to the interior flights.

well, i have to pass through another security point. i am asked to take my shoes off, sweater, and belt. it’s an interior flight, who in their right might would ever consider it? oh well, rules are rules. well, i take my laptop out, place it in the tray. they noticed wires in my bag…so the guy finds it necessary to take each and every one of my wires out. yes, i have my monitor connector, yes i have my audio cables, etc. well, enjoy putting them back together.

eventually i get to the gate. 4 gates to the interior, 4 flights (sibiu, satu mare, baia mare and oradea). all 4 flights leave at 20:45. otopeni only has one take-off strip for interior…something’s gotta give. well…it turned out my flight only left at some time past 21:10. well…i did get to sibiu, a bit late…but then again it’s romania…it’s to be expected.
